Wintering by Donna Ashworth

Updated: Apr 5

poem by Donna Ashworth about Winter

I stumbled across these beautiful words on a dark, grey day as I struggled to find the motivation to do all the things 'I should be doing' (sound familiar or is it just me?) and it struck a much needed chord so I wanted to share them with you in case you need a gentle nudge to be kind to yourself.

"Nature is simply pulling you to slow" yet all too often we are surrounded by pressure from the outside world at this time of year to make resolutions, plan out our future and make changes before we've even had chance to reflect on the story so far. As a result we subconsciously place unrealistic expectations on ourselves and others.

Let's give ourselves permission to enjoy a slow, relaxed morning with a few more minutes in the warmth of our nests, an amble in the woodlands or a potter in the garden, to connect with nature and celebrate in the knowledge that we are in tune with the seasons. We are simply 'wintering'.

Thank you, Donna Ashworth for allowing me to share your wisdom. If you would like to explore more of Donna's motivational musings visit her on Instagram @donnaashworthwords or find her beautiful books on Amazon they really are an inspiration.
