As the earth warms up and new growth begins to find it’s way through, there’s a sense of hope in the air. Spring gently encourages nature out of its slumber and welcomes the transition of new life. Gardens and landscapes inspire us with their evidence of resilience as they burst back into technicolour splendour, regardless of the harsh conditions they have weathered over the winter months.
The changing of the seasons provides a natural link to our own growth and development. If you embraced the winter chills (see our blog post here) and engaged in some quiet reflection and introspection in front of that crackling log fire, now is the time to get excited as the germination of your seedling ideas begins. It’s a time to clear away the dead leaves, turn your face to the sun and make some space to flourish.
As humans we too can harness the magical power of resilience by de-cluttering the mind and maybe indulging in a good old spring clean, making way for new beginnings. Taking time to prepare and create ambient conditions for growth is important, as is patience. Sustained growth takes time and gentle encouragement, so if you’re anything like me and you sink with disappointment when your seeds haven’t sprouted twenty-four hours after you planted them, you may need to have a quiet word with yourself! That said when they do finally show signs of life you will be well within your rights to indulge in some high energy kitchen dancing style celebrations.
Natural surroundings are full of inspiration so welcome in Spring and venture outdoors to see what you can find. Maybe observe the bees as they begin their daily collections busily exploring their surroundings, working as a team to enhance their future, and enriching the world around them as they go.
Let the de-cluttering begin and remember - ‘Great oaks from little acorns grow’
